We had a little more science fun today as we studied the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, precipitation - oh my!
My Junior Scientists were very eager to make observations and take notes so a science experiment was a must!
We filled a bowl about halfway with water, covered it with plastic wrap, and then set it out in the sun to see what would happen...
As you can see, the bowl was free of any condensation when we started.
Then...
Oh my, what's that? The water can't go anywhere, but it is still evaporating so it forms condensation inside the plastic wrap. Just as water droplets condense to form clouds - ahh, yes, a method to my science madness!
After a while it starts to rain right back down into the bowl. Clouds get heavy and can't hold water any longer... Oh the visual!
That's our water cycle in a nutshell. Bug drew a lovely picture of it all...
I love science. So much fun!

thats really nice to see pics. how much time did it take for the entire process to complete?
ReplyDeleteWe had it out for about 3.5 hours. The longer you leave it the better it does. :-)
