I just wanted to share a couple of things that Bug's Special Ed Coordinator/Social Skills Teacher put together for us.
The first is a visual of our breathing technique. It is done in such a way that I can keep one with me in my purse at all times and also so that he can keep one with him, perhaps as a bookmark or just sticking it in his pocket. I just need to laminate it and then we're good to go...
The second one is a visual to remind him of the level of annoyance (sounds harsh but really isn't) that he may be causing. It is a way for him to understand why others may not want to be around him at certain times. Just click on the picture to see it better...
Both of these are really great visuals for him and I think we will be using them a lot.
She also put together a book called "My Calm Body Book" which is basically a social story about dealing with emotions and anxiety. I tell ya, she makes some fabulous stuff for us!
yay!

ReplyDeleteHubby wants to know if she can do one for me. LOL!
Art is a good source of visual aids. Kids love it and gives interest to them.
